Poker is a card game that involves betting, and in some cases bluffing, against other players. It requires the player to place chips into the pot (a fund that everyone contributes to) in order to participate in a betting interval. The highest hand wins the pot. Players may also raise on a weak hand to force other players to call the bet, or to fold their cards and give up.<\/p>\n
In poker, you have two cards that are dealt to you, and there are five community cards. Your aim is to make the best 5 card \u201chand\u201d using your own 2 cards and the 5 community cards.<\/p>\n
You start by putting something into the pot, called \u201cannounced raising\u201d and then the betting begins. The next player to act can \u201ccheck\u201d (this means that they do not owe any money to the pot), call the raised bet, or raise themselves again.<\/p>\n
The next player to act will then place in the pot (representing the money) the amount that they feel is appropriate for their hand. Each player must put into the pot at least the same number of chips as each previous player has contributed (unless they are willing to drop).<\/p>\n
There are many different variations on poker, but it is typically played with a maximum of 10 players. For larger games, the number of players is divided into two equal groups and the cards are dealt in a circle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
