What is a Casino?
Casino is a large building or room designed for meetings, entertainment, dancing, and gambling. It may also be a place where races, sports, or other events are held. The word is derived from the Latin casin
When it comes to the largest casinos in the world, square footage seems to be the most important factor. But, there are a few casinos that stand out for other reasons, too. The Hippodrome in London, for example, has a number of unique themed casinos, including one dedicated to poker. They are all world-class in terms of table gaming and electronic games, but they each offer something different, as well.
Another big draw to these casinos is the live entertainment. Many of them have hosted some of the biggest names in pop culture, from Frank Sinatra to Madonna to Sting. And, of course, there is the infamous Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Originally named Circus Maximus, it became known as The Colosseum when it was remodeled in 1968 and has played host to performers like Cher, Elton John, Bette Midler, and Mariah Carey.
In addition to live music, some of the larger casinos have their own restaurants and shopping opportunities. WinStar, for example, features a few different restaurants and retail outlets, including Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar & Grill, Kirby’s Prime Steakhouse, Dallas Cowboys Bar & Grill, Union Mesa Buffet, Gran Via Buffet, and Vino’s Italian Kitchen. In addition to the food, there is a selection of merchandise from Brighton jewelry to purses and perfume to Bedre chocolates.
